Eric Albitz, of Upper Pottsgrove, PA, had 37 pictures and videos of child pornography on his cell phone of girls as young as 8 years old, they said.

Detectives with the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office found the content during a warranted search of his Snyder Road home in Jan. 2022 after they had linked his IP address to a Snapchat account that had uploaded a video of suspected child abuse in Sept. 2021.

The investigation began in Oct. 2021, when county detectives received a tip from the Delaware County Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force about possible "sexual abuse" shared on Snapchat, they said.

When authorities arrived at the home, they spoke with Albitz's mom, who apparently told them that he was a registered sex offender, according to a criminal complaint.

Daily Voice could not find Albitz's name on the Maryland sex offender registry, though he has been on the Pennsylvania registry since Jan. 7, 2021.

Maryland court records show he entered a guilty plea in Jan. 2020 and then violated it at some point.  In Feb. 2022, a warrant was issued for his arrest, though it is unclear what it was for.

When police arrived at his job, he reportedly admitted to having child pornography on his phone, the complaint says. He said he believed the girls on his phone were between the ages of 14 and 18, according to the complaint.

Albitz was arraigned on 37 felony counts of possessing child pornography and 37 counts of criminal use of a communications facility on Monday, March 14.

He was remanded to SCI - Dallas in Luzerne County after failing to post $1,000 cash bail.

A preliminary hearing was set for Tuesday, April 5.
